This liquid allows to isolate parts of the support during the application of gouache, watercolor, ink or gouache. It is applied with a brush or pen. It is slightly colored to distinguish it from the white support. After a few minutes of drying, apply the color. Once the color is dry, peel off the hidden areas. Always carry out a preliminary test on a support of the same nature. Clean the tools quickly with warm water and soap.

Description

This liquid, which is basically a latex, is used to apply to the areas of your drawing where you want to reserve the white of the paper.

Apply the liquid on a small area, wait a few minutes for it to dry (you can feel it by touching it with your finger) and when it is completely dry you can stain the area with watercolour without fear of colouring the part you have covered with the masking liquid.

We recommend using it for small details as in large areas the result is very unnatural.

We also advise you not to leave the masking fluid longer than strictly necessary to finish that part of the drawing, as if you leave it longer than necessary it can adhere too much to the paper and lift the cellulose when you lift the mask.

To remove it, you can use your fingertip or a soft eraser, always making small circles and as gently as possible. Under no circumstances use a sharp or hard tool to remove it as you will end up damaging the work.

The liquid mask is latex so the brush you use to apply it will be practically unrecoverable even if you wash it very well (with warm water and soap) after application, so we recommend that you use a brush that you are not very fond of and keep it to continue using it exclusively for this purpose. You can also use a rubber brush, from which you can remove the masking more easily.

Wooden sticks are also a good option.

You should close the mask tightly when you have finished using it so that it does not dry out.

And keep it in a dry and more or less cool place, at least in summer, otherwise it becomes very runny and thus much more difficult to use and control.

It has a slight blue tint so you can distinguish it from the white of the paper.
