Renensans masking powder can be used in two ways: put it on paper before painting, then it will have a similar effect to masking liquid: paint the first layer immediately after applying the powder. The second way is to apply it by spraying the wet surface with watercolour and then rubbing it in gently. In both cases you will get a nice uneven abrasion effect, as the powder is water-repellent. Powder coated areas remain white, similar to masking fluid, revealing the texture of the paper. However, the coated areas can be easily removed with an eraser and then re-coated with watercolours.
