The Shade and Tone set is an incredibly versatile set – the variety of different pan types allowed me to create a really wide range of textures within a muted colour palette and the drawing materials in the set complement the pans. I’m not a confident watercolourist, so this has also been a great way to start to use water-soluble media more in my work. I’m a particular fan of Graphitint pans particularly the Graphite Grey, which can be erased once it has dried–I’m looking forward to using the set in a new series of portrait studies
